Volvo 1800

$9,000.00 $900.00

This 1970 Volvo 1800E was sold new by Triumph Continental Motors in Seattle, Washington and was acquired by the seller in 2017 in Oregon, reportedly from its second owner. The car is finished in dark green over beige, and power is from a fuel-injected 2.0-liter inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Maintenance under current ownership included overhauls of the cylinder head and overdrive unit as well as replacement of the alternator, water pump, engine mounts, oil pan gasket, seals, and more. This 1800E is offered with manufacturer’s literature, a shop manual, spare parts, service records from current ownership, and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Dark Green (94), and the seller notes that the roof and rear deck have been repainted. Detailed photos of the finish and brightwork can be viewed in the gallery below.

Stock 15″ clover wheels are wrapped in Continental ProContact tires which were fitted in September 2018. All four shocks, the left and right tie rods, and the brake master cylinder were also replaced in 2018 along with completion of a brake fluid flush.

Smiths instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. Approximately 138k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer. The seller notes that the clock is not functional.

The fuel-injected 2.0-liter B20E inline-four was factory rated at 130 horsepower and has been fitted with an electronic ignition setup from PerTronix. Service performed in 2018 and 2019 is as follows:

  • Cylinder head resurfaced
  • New valves, seats, and seals
  • New engine mounts
  • New water pump, thermostat, and coolant hoses
  • New alternator
  • New fuel injectors and fuel filter
  • New oil pan gasket
  • New fan belt

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with an electrically-actuated overdrive which was refurbished in December 2018. The rear transmission seal and differential pinion seal were also replaced.

The interior is upholstered in beige leather with black accents and woodgrain dash inserts. Amenities include a heater, a defroster, and a RetroSound stereo with Bluetooth in place of the stock Bendix radio, which is included in the sale but not functional. Coco floor mats protect the tan carpets.
